Level: Beginner - Intermediate

Dates: Sundays — Jan 12, Jan 19, Jan 26 from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
*This is a recurring workshop that students can return to in order to refine and develop their skills and technique. Sessions will typically be four weeks at a time (a full month).
This ongoing workshop — suitable for beginner to intermediate — touches on many principles of art and design while working from a nature journaling perspective. Students are welcome to bring their own sketch book to fill during these classes, however paper will also be available. Topics and activities will include:
- Drawing natural objects (dried plants, bones, seeds, etc)
- Discussing and learning about our subjects using "I notice..., I wonder..., It reminds me of..." prompts
- Foundational drawing techniques to capture form and proportions
- Pen techniques (stippling, hatching, contour lines, etc)
- Basic watercolour skills to add colour to our drawings
- Basic colour theory to capture subjects accurately with watercolour
- When seasonally appropriate, we may work plein air on my property finding subjects outdoors
All tools and materials supplied for use during the workshop.
Workshops are held in-person in Kemptville, Ontario, Canada.
