Make your own bird zine!

This is a fun way to discover all sorts of fresh facts about one of Ontario's many bird species.

1. LEARN ABOUT YOUR BIRD — Check out the website All About Birds (from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology) for detailed profiles on countless species.

• Northern flicker
• Brown thrasher
• Eastern phoebe
• Great crested flycatcher
• American redstart
• Yellow warbler
• Green heron
• American bittern

• Rose-breasted grosbeak
• Common swift

2. CREATE YOUR ZINE — This template can be printed out for use to create your zine. You can also work on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper and simply refer to this PDF as a guide. Note that you will need to cut an opening in the paper indicated with the dashed line in the template. I will show you how to fold your zine at our April workshop.

3. SCAN AND SUBMIT — Once you have completed your zine — using doodles, text, collage, or whatever works best for you — please send a scan of the flat sheet (or an in-focus photo) to mluce (at) luceends.com. I will print out several copies of each completed zine and have them available for everyone to read, swap, and enjoy as a learning resource at our April workshop!
